Shoden (Beginner Degree in Jikiden Reiki)
Shoden is the first degree of the Japanese system Jikiden Reiki (for more information, please have a look at the section What is Reiki?). Depending on the number of students, the Shoden training will be for two or three days. This course consists of the following three parts:
Part 1:
Theoretical Introduction: The History of Reiki- The history of Mikao Usui, founder of the original Reiki system
- The history of Jikiden Reiki
- Chujiro Hayashi and Wasaburo Sugano (my teacher Tadao Yamaguchi's great uncle)
- The Yamaguchis' personal Reiki history
- The meaning of the five Reiki principles (Gokai)
- Explanation of some key terms in Jikiden Reiki
- Reiki attunements (Reiju)
- Exercise to increase the sensitivity of your hands (Reiki Mawashi)
- Reiki exchange (we practise Reiki with the whole group)
Part 2:
- Reiki attunements
- Time for another Reiki Mawashi
- The first Reiki symbol: we talk about its origin and meaning and how and when it is used
- Byosen: a most effective method for finding accumulated toxins in the body during a Reiki treatment
- I explain Ketsueki Kokan: a massage technique to stimulate blood flow after the treatment
- We all practise Ketsueki Kokan
Part 3:
- Reiki attunements
- We repeat Reiki Mawashi
- Reiki Okuri: an exercise to perceive the energy flow
- Hatsurei-Ho: a method for training your Reiki perception at home
- Reiki exchange
- Questions and answers, revision
- Certificate presentation
The course starts at 10 pm each day and finishes between 5 and 6 pm. There will be some small tea and coffee breaks and a longer lunch break where we can refuel and enjoy the landscape and the sea in beautiful Cornwall.
The course price includes the following elements:
- the course itself
- registration with the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan
- an original Japanese certificate written in calligraphy
- an English translation in the form of a print
- a personal copy of the training manual
- additional handouts
- an attendance record to document your Jikiden Reiki courses
- refreshments
Your investment for the Shoden course is 250 euros if you are a first-time participant and 50 euros per part (i.e. 150 euros for all three parts) if you do a repetition. You can either repeat the full course or only individual parts of it. If you want to repeat a course, please also let me know beforehand.
Any costs for traveling, board and lodging are separate and depend on the facilities you choose. Upon request I will happily recommend you an accommodation or help you to organise your trip.
